Onward

The next stop after the phenonmenal stop at the home of Taiwan Beauty was to the land of bamboo. Specifically, we stopped into Bamboola, where some of the most ingenous and beautiful teaware, furniture, and puzzle boxes were designed and made. Watch out, the puzzle boxes can wreck you and make your hair turn white, warns the owner and creator of Bamboola. Our happy tour group of 10 eagerly dug into attempting to open the many kinds of seamlessly made gadgets and devices, all made of bamboo and impossible to open. In the past, Chinese doors and boxes were not locked with keys that could be lost or stolen. Instead, each door or box was created specifically for the owner to open cleverly, and if the thief was not as clever, the goods would not be stolen. Nowadays it is doubtful that the owners are even smart enough to open these kinds of puzzles. Our group of smart travelers were definitely challenged, and left full of admiration that such ancient folkcraft not only lived on from the ancient days, but thriving in our modern times.
