We have a word for this in Chinese: Luohou落後，meaning left back. It’s a derogatory term for First World countries to describe Third World countries. Here I am in a United Airlines flight, for the first time, no entertainment system of my own, a shared monitor up ahead from the 1970s. America has arrived to luohou. I forgot that an economy seat for a normal Asian airline means at least business class on UA.
