White Down Pre-Order Spring 2017

Rough Weather Affects White Teas

The most exciting time of the year for the tea aficionado is here! Alas, the inclement weather across different regions is shrinking the yield of the top early harvest. We are expecting very expensive, very small amounts of our coveted white teas this season.

White tea, considered to be the top varietal in China for its highest concentration of anti-oxidant polyphenols and its superb ethereal taste, is suffering from cold in the Northern Fujian region called Fuding, the one and only place of origin for White teas.

We have decided to allow pre-orders only for the White Down for now until the weather changes maybe. For those of you who want to lock in the price from last year, please place a pre-order. We are expecting the White Down, SIlver Needle, and White Peony prices to go up in another 2 weeks, so we will keep your pre-orders open for now!

White teas are made of the finest unopened tea buds. It takes more than 30,000 buds to yield a lb. of tea. Not only is this tea labor intensive, it is extremely weather dependent. As they say poetically, one is truly drinking the weather!
